Solid (and heavy)

I have the Sixth Edition. Yes, it is 3000+ pages and is printed on wafer thin paper.

The content is excellent for security professionals, particularly those at the management level. There are 220+ articles within the 10 (ISC)2 domains on a wide variety of topics. Most of the stuff is higher level but just technical enough for you to have confidence in the concepts presented. It would probably be typical that you'd read an article in here for one of three reasons: background research for an immediate decision that doesn't require detailed technical knowledge; introduction to concepts that will require further in-depth research; or research for a presentation to senior management, in which case you'd have to distill and simplify conceptually (something you're probably already used to).

You will find multiple articles on single topics- some more complete than others, and potentially with a variety of perspectives, so you'll have to make your own calls on what's presented. It's not a "InfoSec Management for Dummies" book that will give you easy answers to your problem or a step-by-step "how to implement an InfoSec program" guide; it's more like an encyclopedia for research that you can use to factor into making your own, independent decisions. For example, there's not a lot of specifics on actual risk assessment techniques, but there are high level articles on the principles.

I wish each of the individual articles were specifically dated so I'd know the time context; seeing a statement like "the position of CISO was virtually unheard of five years ago" or even "80 percent of companies monitor their employees' email" means less without knowing when the article was written.

I could probably find a lot of similar information Googling for it, but Google doesn't seem to be what it once was (or the Internet for that matter... so much for the days of shared research) and my time is too valuable to spend a lot of it culling through blogs, noisy forums, and marketing junk disguised as whitepapers to get this information.

For the record, I have passed the CISSP exam. I did not use this book, nor would I recommend it as a study guide. I bought this particular book because I needed it as a reference for my work. If you mastered this book cover to cover and didn't read anything else, you'd probably do OK on the exam, but there are far more efficient means to getting there.

If your goal is to pass the CISSP exam, this book may help, but there are better books out there. If your goal is to actually dig deep into the security domains, this book contains a vast collection of security related topics that may help you reach that goal.
I gave it a 2 star because I was disappointed at the number of errors and omissions I discovered in this book, for example chapter 4 has 4 dates for ITGI's begining which are all wrong, Chapter 8 has the correct date. as matter of fact if I was the editor of the book, I would remove the entire chapter 4. I was happy to see Kevin Henry bring up the "placement of security" but he does not take it far enough. So chapter 14 we are back to "IT" based information security. I think it is time for security experts to start writing outside the box, most companies have confidential information that is not "IT" related, take contracts as an example.
Chapter 76 "Intrusion in information system security simply means the attempts or actions of unauthorized entry into an IT system. " really!, this is 1990's way of thinking Gildas Deograt-Lumy Roy Naldo Please read The Art of Intrusion by Kevin D. Mitnick.
I would write a book describing all that is wrong with this book, only if I had the time and writing skills some of which was wasted reading this book, Oh by the way Mr.Ralph Spencer Poore, there are so many exciting new standards coming up with cryptographic key management you should have and could have written about, such as the 1619.3, but I guess I have to read yet another book to learn about it.

The book arrived on time and in excellent condition for a class I was enrolled in. IT was an easy read although long but has the information laid out in a too easy to understand language, not overly technical, which made it easy to read and understand.

Then the author gives you suggestions for painting your sculpture, including an easy way to paint brindled spots, how to give an all-white dog an interesting coat, how to emphasize heavily-textured fur with acrylic glazing liquid, and more. What is most amazing about this is that it is completely in the head and considered “normal”. Why do people try to find themselves outside of themselves?! Why is it that with everything out there nothing tells you or shows you how to go inside?! Who are you if you stop thinking? Those answers and more are found within the pages of this book. And all of these answers come directly from the sensations within and were created completely without thought. That will sound impossible to a thinking brain and so it will disagree or maybe it will agree. Both of those two options are thinking: the two sides of the very same coin. This is also a way that the ego defends itself. If you agree or disagree then you are thinking and nothing goes in. Does this make sense to you? This book is the only thing on the market that will not fix you at all. This book will show you that you the truth, that you are not broken and that there is nothing to fix! In fact, we need to peel back all of the stuff (fixes) that we have added over the years. This is what is meant by Unfixyou. It's like peeling back the layers of an onion to get back to the core inside. There is NEVER anything that ever needs to be added again!

This book will take you to what some would call enlightenment. It has been said another way. It is the peace of God that passeth all understanding. This is true because understanding is thinking and this book will teach you how to stop thinking. When you give up thinking a new intelligence comes in. You literally unplug your brain and plug into THE brain. Peace, joy, love, etc.. are just mind concepts. Remove the thinking and these things become your birthright. After all, they were always there waiting for you to turn on the lights.

If you have tried everything out there then this is for you. If you have always felt somewhere inside that something just isn't right then this book is for you. I encourage you to stop fixing yourself and Unfixyou!

About the Author
Jason Pipho, or Krisjian to his friends is the rarest of teachers. Unlike anyone out there he tells you to go inside and pay attention to you. 99.9% of the world seems fixated on the world outside, while Krisjian has gone the opposite way. He learned over many years how to remove his attention from the external world and place it on the internal world. In doing so he had an amazing transformation. What some would call enlightenment, he says is our birthright. He has nothing to fix you because you are not broken. Rather, he simply gets you to go inside and start turning on the lights. His book, “Unfixyou”, is a starting point for most to stop trying to find themselves outside of themselves. Sounds funny to say but that is what the entire world is doing. He simply points that out to his students and gets them to stay in the sensations of their bodies. His work and mission are profound! His students have amazing transformations as he literally teaches people how to turn off thinking. By doing so you bypass the filter, your brain, that has kept you in self bondage for eons. His energetic abilities are considered astounding by many but as he is quick to point out, “Everyone has these abilities. They simply forgot because they are thinking. Miracles are our birthright, not miracles.”

Path to Eden and my true self

This is my third time reading Jason Pipho's Unfixyou and I am realizing how deep and true Jason's messages are every time I read it.

As he put it, `How deep down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?'

To improve myself, increase my capacity in business and life, or find my true self, etc., I have studied from Mr. Robbins, Landmark, the Secret, Buddhism, ThetaHealing�, etc., etc., and Jason's writing is different from others. Although, initially it appeared to be similar to some others, it's in a different dimension/paradigm.

Many other programs deal with a level of thinking/belief/conviction and they teach different techniques to delete or change the so called `limiting' beliefs at a conscious or subconscious level to make things better. And, indeed, they did work for me to `improve' my thinking, hence results. I'm thankful to all of them. However, after reading this book, I know that they are dealing in the world of thinking - the world after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge (= thinking).

This book shows the reader a way to go back to the world before the Tree of Knowledge, Eden. He explains how we have been `breaking' the perfection we already are, and how `fixing' ourselves actually break us even more.

Jason introduces simple exercises that individuals can do to be one's true self. He also writes specific instructions on meditation to quiet the mind/thinking.

After practicing those exercises, many things about me are changing and people are noticing the changes. In Jason's words, "All changes take place in the internal world and then the external world will change as if by magic." This book shows a way to meet the true, perfect self that, "was always there" and takes us back to Eden where we belong.

Follow up skills? Great idea. If new distributors don't have enough skills to enroll new prospects on the first visit, well, they probably won't have enough follow up skills to do the job either.
