Instead, it's a stunning collection of real-world stories shadowed by the netherworld of poetry: The hippie tells us his dog/ has terrible luck. A week ago/ it fell into a silo; yesterday/ it got electrocuted while peeing/ on a pole. We don't really know/ how to respond. The sky is amazing/tonight, full of blurry swans. (Nov.)

A Note From The AuthorWhen I was a kid, I loved learning about animals, especially the weird ones!I remember reading about pangolins and how they were in trouble andneeded protection from poachers. I thought they would probably be extinctbefore I ever got to see one. I didn't feel like there was much I could do tohelp an animal in trouble so far away. That made me feel very sad.Many years later, as an adult, I traveled very far from home to the countryof Cambodia. While I was there, I visited an animal sanctuary and guesswhat I saw? A pangolin! He had been rescued from poachers and wasrecovering, surrounded by people who work to protect endangered animals.Learning about endangered animals can be discouraging. But the importantthing is to be inspired to help and not to lose hope that these unique andamazing creatures will continue to walk the earth with us.Cheers,Anastasia KierstAuthor and Illustrator of P is for Pangolin

About the Author
ANASTASIA KIERST was born in Wyoming and spent most of her childhood and college years in the Rocky Mountains. She is an explorer at heart and soaks up inspiration while traveling with her husband Jeff Martin. The idea for this book came to her while visiting a wildlife sanctuary in Cambodia. In addition to writing and illustrating, she has worked as a graphic designer and a children's art teacher. Currently, she divides her time between Dallas, Texas and Rollinsville, Colorado. This is her second title as an author/illustrator and her third as an illustrator.

This is a great book. Very colorful and fun. Even if the kiddos can't read they can express themselves through the pictures. I love the added teacher pages at the back. Great way to introduce new and endangered animals and get a grade or too from it! Highly recommended!

Perfect ABC for my little cousins!

I picked up a copy of P is for Pangolin as a Christmas gift for my young cousins (3-4 years). The illustrations are just beautiful and the text is excellent as well. P is for Pangolin is a different take on the classic animal alphabet book. I love that it highlights typically under appreciated and/or endangered animals. One of my favorites in this author's series!

About the Author
Robert L. Smith, P.E., is an Emeritus Professor of Architecture at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He worked in electrical construction for more than 20 years. He taught electrical apprentice classes for the IBEW and industrial electricity at Parkland Community College and Environmental Technology for the School of Architecture. Mr. Smith has frequently lectured on the application of the National Electrical Code . He was an active member of the Illumination Engineering Society, of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, and of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.

Stephen L. Herman--both an electrician and a teacher for more than 30 years--authored numerous popular textbooks on the subjects of electricity and mathematics. Now retired, Mr. Herman spent two decades as lead instructor for the Electrical Technology Curriculum at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, where he received an Excellence in Education Award from the Halliburton Education Foundation. He also taught at Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina, for nine years, and helped establish an electrical curriculum for Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant, Texas. This book has saved me countless times in my Asian Philosophy class. It can be stated that without this book, my grade in the class would be significantly lower than it is right now. It actually walks you through the concepts and helps draw a clear line between actual Asian philosophy and Western Asian philosophy.

Kupperman's book is clear and informative. He uses a conversational tone. I recommend this book for anyone interested in a supplement that will help them read some of the principle texts. This book, however, might be difficult for students seeking a basic introduction or a more advanced commentary. I remember it sitting some distance between the two.
