Les and Linda Wise, husband-and-wife team . Les is a world renowned guitarist with over 30 years of professional experience touring and recording. Les also is a world-class music educator and author.

He was one of the�early guitar instructors at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Calif., where he counseled and taught thousands of students the art and science of becoming better musicians.

He and his wife Linda founded an International music school in Vienna, Austria. There they taught music in every style to, guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, sax, and vocalists.

He is the author of six books, including Jazz Improvisation for Guitar, Jazz Solo for Guitar, Bebop Lines, Bebop Lines for Piano, BeBop Lines for B-Flat Instruments, and Bebop Lines for E-Flat Instruments, all from Hal Leonard Publishing. In addition Les co-authored The Ten Book; featuring Joe Pass, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford and Eddie Van Halen.

Linda Wise is a music industry professional and was co-founder of the American Institute of Music in Vienna, Austria.

She has diverse experience working with musicians which includes every aspect of the business, including artist management, promotion and bookings, creation and supervision of instructional clinics and seminars, and providing student and career counseling.

Linda has intimate knowledge of what musicians need and want out of life, and she knows how to teach them the techniques required in achieving their goals. She has a Masters degree in business administration, and she was an administrator in the California State University system for more than eleven years. Within her years at the California State University she counseled thousands of students on many academic and life issues.

Together, they share a passion and commitment to helping musicians transform their lives.

If you think business isn't interesting, read this

This was truly a life-changing book for me when I read it 25-30 years ago. Up til then I had thought of myself as a kind of Bohemian, more interested in the arts and "higher things" than anything like business. At the time I was a penniless freelance writer, working in a library job that bored me. I was attracted to the book by the Renaissance Italy theme, but what I found was quite a revelation.

The Medici engaged in some of the same sorts of sophisticated financial transactions that people use today -- including currency arbitrage and venture capital. But since the objects of the transactions were very concrete, physical things (coins, precious stones, etc.), it's easy to get a good understanding of what they were doing. That's how I got interested in business, and ultimately into a career as a corporate lawyer and venture capitalist.

I also learned that many of the familiar masterpieces of Renaissance painting in museums around the world had been commissioned by branch managers of the Medici Bank. When the Medici found out that one of their managers had commissioned a painting, they figured his head had gotten too big, and they fired him. Very entertaining history!

Academic of the highest class

I've tried retrace the bank's history on my own and failed miserably quite often. But this book gave me the insight I needed in a full thesis like format. The best thing were the references, which assured me of clarity and objectivity(which I also checked against my own findings). No other book clearly defines the system and structure of the bank and the economy that it operated in like this one(coz there is literally no other book).

In my terms, this book looses one star for one good reason. The fall of the bank and it's rise as well was partly due to the involvement of the Medici in Florine, Tuscan and Papal politics. I would suggest that the author incorporate significant aspects of the political decisions affecting the bank and the lives of it's partners, as there are some occasions in the book where petty political conclusions like exile are mentioned, whereas their reason is not. This in my terms would affect badly for a reader who knows nothing of Italian renaissance politics.

One of the best cookbooks I have ever read

This is an incredible book. Adam Perry Lang is quite simply a genius with barbecue. Lang is a classically trained chef who has applied his knowledge to barbecue. I bought this book six months ago after reading another of his books, Charred & Scruffed, which I was very impressed with. While Charred & Scruffed is a very innovative and involved take on bbq, BBQ 25 is much simpler and less involved. The result is a book that is very user friendly while also providing an outstanding guide to barbecue.

The book only has 25 recipes, with only one recipe for each cut of meat. The cuts of meat range from pork, beef, and chicken for BBQ, to fish, steaks and hamburgers in a more traditional grilling style. However, these simple recipes are delicious and creative, and will most likely broaden any barbecue chef's cooking abilities. Many of his recipes first require that you brine the meat. Next, Adam gives perfect instruction to either grill or smoke (through indirect cooking on your gas or charcoal grill) the meat. I have now tried around 15 recipes in this book, and I have not been disappointed.

My favorite recipe is the pork loin. Before this book, I had never thought about BBQing this cut of meat. However, it has now become a regular staple in my cooking rotation. The loin is first brined for 3-24 hours, then rubbed, and finally smoked on a gas grill for an hour and a half, with the "glaze" added half way through cooking. The result is possibly the best meat I have ever tasted, and always comes out perfectly tender. I have made this for several groups of friends at parties, and everyone raves about it and asks how in the world I cooked such great pork.

Bottom line, this is a book that nobody will ever regret buying. Try it out, and you will be cooking up outstanding barbecue in no time.

A Must Have Cook Book!!!!

EVERYONE should have this book! I bought if for my non-cooking husband, and it is so non-intimidating that he actually uses it and has made some delicious meals. He now calls himself "The Grill-meister"! He showed it to his buddies and they bought it too. Adam Lang makes it fool-proof, and each item is perfectly photographed and laid out step by step.

Unbelievable food will result

This book turned me into a golden god of grilling. Incredible flavours from the recipes and easy to follow down to earth instructions make it way easier than it looks to outsiders. Warning: you will need to buy a charcoal grill to fully take advantage and you will smell like you were at a smokey campfire when you are done.
